The brief
TV is changing: young people are watching 49% less traditional television than five years ago. Design a dynamic visual identity for a new TV channel aimed at 18 to 30 year olds, the most risky and forward-thinking youth media network in the world, working as a broadcaster and online. The deliverables were a 3-second vertical launch sting for social, three 4-second idents with an animated logo, and an Adshel poster.
The identity
VEXR Entertainment is a bold, hand-scrawled identity for a fictional youth TV network. The logo animation stays the same across the sting and idents, while each one looks distinct so the set reads as one consistent brand.
The idents
Three idents, each in its own world: a glitching, blue-lit night ident, a jellyfish and forest ident, and a black-and-white film ident. Each one lands on the same VEXR Entertainment logo.
The sting
A 3-second vertical sting (1080 × 1920) for the start of social content on TikTok or Snapchat. The logo glitches into place at the centre of a tunnel of VEXR lettering in blue and white.
The poster
An Adshel poster to promote the channel: “The solution lies here” over the VEXR logo, on a bold blue field framed by repeating VEXR lettering.
Idents

Ident 1
A grungy, abandoned look that fits the angst and audacious keywords of VEXR. I adjusted the hue of every frame to blue to suit the brand’s colour scheme, and used a glitch effect to carry the text through all of my idents.

Ident 2
My second ident, meant to show when the viewer is watching something nature themed. I didn’t hue these images, as it took away the vibrant colours of nature and didn’t feel needed. It’s my calmest ident, but it still follows the theme of being audacious and quick.

Ident 3
Research showed sci-fi is one of the most popular genres on TV channels, so I went for a similar style to Ident 1, with a grungy overlay, but in neutral black and white so it stands out from the rest. The music is a darkwave beat, keeping everything as dark as possible while retaining the fun, quick feel of my brand keywords. The quick flashing keeps “audacious” intact, alongside “intense” and “angst”.
