The brief
Create a self-initiated publication that documents a subject of your choosing. Use editorial design to explore that subject and translate it into a printed publication, through visual experimentation, conceptual thinking and a high level of craft.
The subject
RECAPTURED: second life for discarded technology. The project turns electronic waste into expressive models through physical reconstruction and digital translation. Using broken circuit boards and parts, I built sculptures that I later captured with 3D scans and presented in a zine. It treats damage and imperfection not as flaws but as visual and conceptual features, and the zine acts as an archive, preserving broken technology as both physical matter and digital identity.
The process
Physical assembly from broken electronic components, 3D scanning to preserve form, damage and texture, digital manipulation and colour grading to build a techno-trash aesthetic, and experimental layouts from layered imagery and grunge textures. The objects were left imperfect on purpose, so cracks, misalignment and wear stay visible, while glitch effects, colour separation and rough textures show instability and reconstruction.
Visual language
High-contrast, neon colour grading inspired by glitch aesthetics, distressed industrial textures that reference decay and wear, and layered compositions that show digital glitches. Type is bold and expressive, used as a visual element, and treated as fragmented or interrupted to mirror corruption and repair.
